So, I went down to Yonkers yesterday to get my second Covid shot (Pfizer by the way). My scheduled time was late in the day so it was a very perfunctory experience given that it was the second shot and there wasn’t any guesswork about what would happen or where I was going.
They gave out the shots in the Armory which is just a stone’s throw from downtown Yonkers proper and I was tempted to take a look around because they’ve done so much work on that area but the truth is that the part of Yonkers I was in didn’t look all that much nicer than I remembered it being.
My arm hurt a little bit today but I haven’t noticed anything outrageous in terms of reactions to the shot so I’m happy about that.
Today I went over to shot some pool at a cousin’s and they both have gotten their shots (both) and are beyond two weeks out on them so that was all fine and good. Things is I know things aren’t going back to normal anytime soon because of something I was told when I got my shot...
The nurse and I were chatting and she pointedly told me NOT to laminate my vaccine card but to make a copy of it and keep it in a safe place. She said the reason NOT to laminate it was because a booster shot likely would be necessary at some point.
So, with all the variants currently spreading that’s the point of this, just because you got vaccinated doesn’t mean you will be out of the woods in the slightest. Covid just like colds and the Flu is a virus and viruses mutate and they apparently already are taking that into account and preparing people for the fact that this whole vaccination thing is not going to be a one and done.
The world is going to change moving forward and that’s okay, we”ll adapt and smart people will take precautions to keep themselves from getting sick and stupid people won’t.
I mean, think about the last year... someone has to TELL YOU TO WASH YOUR HANDS WHEN YOU GO TO THE BATHROOM?!?!?
REALLY!
I mean that’s something my mom drummed into me as a kid and while I know there are people who are just dirty it still fascinates me that they haven’t gotten the memo on things like this.
Also, this past year? GREAT YEAR! AWESOME YEAR!
Why?
Because every year for the last couple of years people always come into work sick and then a bug spreads around the office for a month. This applies especially to my peer who. I was sitting near who practically coughed up his lungs in early 2020. This year I didn’t get a cold or the flu (and I did get the flu shot) and that was great. So I’m a bit of a convert to the mask wearing thing (which places like Japan have been doing for a long time now).
I’m okay with the new normal though... I get the feeling though a lot of people won’t be though and will think everything will go back to the way it was before Covid.
Also, I WANT TO POINTEDLY THANK FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP!
Without Operation Warp Speed we wouldn’t have had so many vaccines options so quickly and there wouldn’t have been as many doses available.
Oh and by the way for all you revisionist idiots who want to keep swallowing the Koolade:
Scores as mostly false at Politfact.
Big Trump supporters at the NY Times (sarcasm) wrote these:
And:
- Speaking during a Sunday morning appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Moncef Slaoui, the head of the vaccine development partnership under the Trump administration, described recent claims by President Joe Biden that his administration was left without a coherent vaccine plan as a “very negative description of the reality.”
- “In fact 90% of what’s happening now is the plan that we had,” Slaoui said, continuing: “We constructed specifically 100 million doses of the vaccine, but we also built into the contract options to acquire more vaccines once we knew they are effective.”
- Slaoui said the Trump administration should take credit for most of the manufacturing and distribution of the vaccines, describing the new administration’s rollout philosophy as “similar” to Trump’s, but gave credit to Biden for his use of the Federal Emergency Management Act and sports arenas as mass vaccination sites.
- The former Operation Warp Speed chief also acknowledged that the Trump administration had some failures in “communication” regarding the vaccine rollout, and lamented on the “politicization” of the shot.
Of course that didn’t stop CNN from lying about it again. Remember though, Jeff Zucker all evidence to the contrary is not a purveyor of fake news:
It would be funny if I didn’t see all of this coming and told you that very fact back on January 2nd:
